COVID-19 has definitely shaken the world to its core. But plastic plays an equal role in our lives and environment. Environmental activists are worried about what plastic future looks like after this life-altering pandemic.

We know that plastic pollution is a global problem and it definitely existed before the pandemic. The regulations regarding the plastic have become much relaxed or even completely stopped during this coronavirus. The whole world is suddenly faced with abundant wastes of gloves and masks.

China has always played a major role in world events. and definitely has a huge impact on plastic waste on the environment.

We have segregated something called “White Pollution” which are, Plastic things viz., plastic bottles, plastic bags, plastic cutlery, and such materials that kill animals and degrades the quality of the environment. Since 2018, China has been strongly sought to reduce the “White Pollution”. and this has been in effect by controlling the number of orders one can place. This year, China has tightened controls on the use of plastics. According to Nations Development and Reform Commission, the annual growth rate of plastic bag use in China has been drastically reduced and has shown significant results. Almost from 20 percent in 2008 to less than 3 percent in 2019.

Certain banning rules are quite certain on the effectiveness of the plastic by causing excessive waste. These guidelines specify the “plastic ban” and “plastic limit”, including e-commerce and food delivery services. It also promotes the use of alternative products.

The white pollution problem will not only improve the environment be it on land or marine, but also play a great role in transforming the economic development model.
